Homesickness is something that you can't escape. A lot of home comforts simply aren't available to you when you live on the other side of the planet from your own country, and a lot of the things you take for granted are the things you will miss in times of crisis. It sucks. It really, really sucks. If you're thinking of moving to Japan (or really, anywhere outside of your home city or country or whatever), you will be forced to deal with it at some point.
