Oxalá was the first Orisha to be created and was given the mission of creating the universe, all beings and things that would ever exist in the world! Father of mankind, creator of humanity, Oxalá is the father of all. Very wise and benevolent with his children, he leads them on the paths of victory. The Orisha Oxalá is the ruler of the Throne of Faith, meaning he is associated with all matters involving Hope and Trust in God. Oxalá is the first son of Olorum, the eldest Orisha. Due to his position, he became somewhat arrogant and demanding, thus being stubborn and a perfectionist. He always gets what he wants through his strategies and reasoning ability. From his union with Yemanja (the queen of the sea), other Orishas and the horizon line, dividing the sky and the sea, were born.
