Gemini200 1/200 Emirates A380-800 Unboxing and Review

I’ll review this Emirates EXPO2020 A380 in 10 categories. All Gemini’s Emirates official licensed models come with the carrier’s official packaging. It’s a very elegant design and is way better than Gemini’s own standard boxes. Gemini uses the same styrofoam packaging with JC’s. The model is well protected inside. I'll give a 9. This model comes with magnetic landing gear and a display stand. The plane looks very beautiful on the stand. This Emirates’ nose gear door can’t perfectly fit into the slot, and therefore has a large gap like this. Just like other Gemini’s such as this Air France, whereas JC’s Etihad has a perfectly made nose door cover. Gemini still has this problem after all these years. I’m quite disappointed and will only give a 7. This Gemini mould has captured the look of an A380 very well. The heavily rounded nose and the huge forehead are very well shaped. The gaps at the attachment between the wings and the fuselage are very visible. Just like what we see on Air France. JC’s Etihad has done a way better job here. I'll give the mould an 8. These four GP7200 see-through engines look very realistic. The fan blades are all in the correct shape and in correct scale. There’re correct white apostrophe spinner spirals painted on them. But there's a mistake. The GP7200 engine in fact has a very unique feature: its interior is not all-black, but has a blue turquoise colour carbon titanium inner rim right in front of the fan. This Emirates has missed this feature. This mistake is minor but important. Therefore, I can only give an 8. In our unboxing of Korean Air’s A380 in another video, we found the two wingtips have a height difference and the vertical stabilizer leans towards the starboard side because of a landing gear slot problem. Well, we see this problem again in this Emirates. Even though the attachment of the vertical stabilizer is very well made and the rest of the model is very finely built. I’ll only give a 7. Again, this Emirates has the same undercarriage problem with Gemini’s Air France. You see, the nose gear door does not sit in far enough. So, there's a very awkward gap there. JC’s Etihad is again way better in this. But one good thing is, unlike Air France’s, the two wheels are no longer too far apart. The main gears are finely made and can tilt. I’ll give undercarriage a 7. All the major details are finely represented by either printing, attachment parts, or engraving. The air in-takes and the APU exhaust are especially good looking. Yet, the lights on the nose gear leg are missing and the landing nights on the wings are only printed. I'll give an 8. It’s Emirates’ approved official licensed product. Of course the colours are accurate and correct! Gemini has already released quite a number of Emirates A380 in standard livery. Many collectors, including myself, feel a bit bored with the standard livery. Yet many of us are never a fan of Emirates’ special liveries. And this one with a small EXPO2020 sticker has the right balance. It’s special and unlike other special liveries: it’s beautiful. It’s the right model in your collection. So, l’ll give livery a 10. The white and gold paints applied on this model are very sharp. The other three colours of the UAE flags are also very good looking. It’s almost perfect. I’ll give a 9. To us, it seems the Gemini would make a model for each aircraft in Emirates’ huge fleet. You don’t have to panic if you miss any standard livery edition. That makes the resell prices of Emirates models less appealing. But this one is different: EXPO2020 did not happen in 2020 and the Dubai EXPO itself is already history. So, Emirates and Gemini will probably never release this model again in the future. I’ll say it is worth an 8 for value.
