VNA Calibration Verification Board demo using Anritsu Shockline VNA
After you calibrate your VNA how do you know it is measuring accurately? A Golden measurement standard is required. This video demonstrates a "VNA Calibration Verification Board" that has bandwidths from 40 GHz to 70 GHz depending on what edge launch connector is used to interface to the traces on the board. Traces include a 50 Ohm through, 100 ohm & 85 Ohm differential, Beatty line. The board comes with S-parameter plots for each trace. To verify the VNA accuracy load one of the S-parameters in the VNA and display it. Then, measure the insertion and return loss trace that the stored waveforms were taken. If the VNA is calibrated correctly and no functions were left on to affect its measurement accuracy the two traces will overlap each other with 3% or less. Measurement drift is also an issue with VNA's. To detect drift before you make a lot of inaccurate measurements at the end of the day measure one of the board’s traces and before you make measurement again retake the measurement and if the VNA does not need calibration the two waveforms should overlap each other. The video cover how to calibrate the Anritsu ShockLine to measure impedance and calibrate the cursers to measure distance using the Beatty line and with Er values taken form the board. Much more information is covered this video. Take a look. For more information email sales@ gigaprobes.com or [email protected]
