EPISODE LESSON PLAN (SHOW NOTES) Philadelphia has a long history of resistance and activism that we all can learn from. This is due to the fact that the city has been a flashpoint for systemic racism and institutional white supremacy. -When studying those historical (and contemporary) resistance movements in Philadelphia, we should focus on the role of education, class dynamics, and the impact of local (Black) leadership. -In moments like this, there are always instigators, attention-seekers, and those who will rely on their identity alone as a cop out for real systemic change. We should be aware of these people. -We have to focus on teaching youth critical thinking skills, especially in light of the actions of ICE and the escalation by this administration. We need intentional design in education that empowers students to question authority and engage with their communities.
