Sci-Fi Wednesdays - Apollo Group Build – USS Kelvin - ep. 1
Welcome to a new episode of Sci-Fi Wednesdays! Today we are officially entering into the Apollo Group Build, hosted by UKscalemodeller. The build started on April 11th and is running until July 20th. So, let's check out what I am going to be building! Of course, I am a bit late getting started, but better late than never! This is probably my most ambitious project ever! For my entry, I've selected to build the 1/1000th scale USS Kelvin, by Moebius Models. This is a brand new kit, that was released in Feb 2019 and I'm very excited to get cracking on it. Also, I am planning on adding a lighting kit by VoodooFX and potentially creating a second lighting source to drive some separate fiber optic light pipes. The Voodoo kit should take care of all the main lights like the bridge, deflector dish, Busard Collector, warp engine, nacelle and impulse engine. While the fibers should help with the smaller lights around the saucer and the other deck portholes. This should be a really interesting build, but since I've never done lighting before, this might be a lot of trouble. Check out their website for more info on the set: https://www.voodoofx.com/ For today, I just wanted to do a quick unboxing and talk a bit about my plans. Nothing too fancy on this one, however on the next episode, I'm planning on getting the ball rolling with some preliminary wiring. A huge shout out to Ian, the UKscalemodeller for hosting the Apollo Group Build. This will be such a fun project! If you haven't subscribed to Ian, go checkout his channel! / @ukscalemodeller Thank you all for watching this episode and we will see you on next week's installment! Until then, stay safe and happy building!
