Frank read the program, found it "well-intentioned but impractical," and offered his informal help to the Drexler team in improving it. Then he heard nothing more from the DAP for six months—until that evening in early 1920 when a comrade took him to a meeting where a certain Hitler was speaking. His own account: "I believe that for all those who did not hear Adolf Hitler speak during the struggle up to 1933, it is difficult to imagine the irresistible power of his speeches. At that time, he was quite simply the magnificent orator without parallel—and without comparison for me. He was the unique German orator. Adolf Hitler was the orator of the German people from 1919 to 1939, for all its tribes from north to south, from west to east."
