Cambridge Surprise Major at St Andrew, Chippenham, Wiltshire

A couple of extracts from a quarter peal on this fine mid-weight eight, filmed 3rd June 2014. (Yes, I have been back through my archives!) The bells were cast by Abraham Rudhall II of Gloucester in 1734, and remain a complete octave. They were rehung by Taylor's of Loughborough in 1950, at which point the canons were removed and the bells retuned. The church is a fine building, largely rebuilt in the 15th century, and heavily restored in the 1870s. It is located in the Market Place, in the middle of the town, close to the River Avon.
