Spring Ice Out - Algonquin Park 2026

After a long winter of anticipating my spring ice-out canoe trip in search of Native Algonquin Brook Trout, the weather had other plans this year. Battling snow, rain, and brutal sub-zero conditions tested my body, mind and spirits. As self-doubt crept in, I made the difficult decision to shorten the adventure. Not every adventure goes as planned, or unfolds the way we hope, it's the experience that we take home and a reminder that Mother Nature always has the final say.
