We detoured left to go through Coello Cocora to avoid the toll. This road is part of the Girardot-Ibagué-Cajamarca highway project, a section called Functional Unit 1 and connects to Bridge 20. We arrived at the first toll between Ibagué and Calarcá, the Coello-Cocora Toll, with a length of 833 meters and a height of up to 123 meters. The project's delivery date is 2024, but if tunnels are built, the project would take longer. When these works are completed, the travel time between Ibagué and Cajamarca for a light vehicle will be 30 minutes, and for a cargo vehicle, it is estimated that the travel time will be reduced by half. The project is of vital importance considering that this section handles 665,000 cargo trips annually, as well as 8.5 million tons of products destined for foreign trade, as it connects the port of Buenaventura with the center of the country.
