Welcome to Stuttgart Christmas Market 2023! Glowing stalls, the smell of almonds, bratwurst, mulled wine and punch, and a festive and joyful atmosphere in the heart of the state capital – from 29 November to 23 December 2023, the Stuttgart Christmas Market will once again take place. The Stuttgart Christmas Market is not only one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in the whole of Europe but also one of the oldest. According to Stuttgart tourism website, It was officially mentioned for the first time in 1692 but its roots however stretch back further in time.  It spreads out over some of the major squares in the city centre (Karlsplatz, Marktplatz, Schlossplatz and Schillerplatz) and attracts more than three-and-a-half million visitors during the Advent period before Christmas. The market has around 300 stalls and there is a daily programme of live music in the inner courtyard of the Old Castle on Schillerplatz. There is no entry fee to the Stuttgart Christmas market. Glühwein: Expect to spend 4-5EUR before pfand (deposit). The pfand runs a few Euro, but you get it back when you return your mug. Food: Food will vary greatly. You can spend 5-8EUR for some snacks and up to 24EUR for a meal. There’s a lot of variation in between. Bathrooms: Expect to spend at least 50 cents to 1€ (EUR) each time you use the restroom.
