Highlights of the government of Floriano Peixoto (1891-1894), our second president of the republic. The "Iron Marshal" was Deodoro's vice-president and assumed the government after his resignation in 1891. His government is notable for the popular cult of personality ("Florianism"), the harshness in combating opponents, and a revolt in the navy (Armada II) and the Federalist Revolution (1893-1895), which would only end during the government of our first civilian president - Prudente de Morais.
