According to the World Health Organization, nearly 1,500 people die worldwide every day from drug use. In Poland, approximately 200 drug-related deaths are recorded annually, although these are estimates. The scale of the problem is also evident in the report by "Superwizjer" TVN24+ entitled "Drugs Delivered Home," which reveals how easily illegal substances can be purchased today. The program's journalists found the dealer's number online, and the ordered drugs—mephedrone—were delivered in just 20 minutes. "It was shocking how quickly it happened," admitted Jakub Stachowiak, co-author of the report, on TVN24's "Tak jest." Mephedrone is very popular because, as Jagoda Władoń-Wilecka, director of the MONAR center in Wyszków, explains, "it's cheap, readily available, and produces strong euphoria and arousal, similar to the effects of amphetamine." The expert emphasizes that children aged 12 to 14 are increasingly having their first contact with drugs. Why do people turn to drugs? Władoń-Wilecka points out that addiction rarely stems from curiosity alone. Its roots often lie in trauma, anxiety, emotional deficits, or a lack of support. She emphasizes that people who turn to drugs aren't just seeking pleasure: they're also trying to escape pain and difficult experiences.
