Barely two years after ascending the Tooro kingdom throne in 1965, Omukama Patrick Olimi Kaboyo lost it to the 1967 Republican Constitution, which abolished all kings and kingdoms in Uganda. This sad state of affairs was reversed by the National Resistance Movement a quarter of a century later when Kaboyo reascended the throne of his forefathers in 1993.
