Extracting the Active Ingredient from Aspirin

In this video I extract the active ingredient (acetylsalicylic acid C9H8O4) from Aspirin! I use acetone as a solvent but you can use ethanol too. The reason I want to do this is because its fun, and acetylsalicylic acid is a useful chemical that I may need for future projects. I had a 68% yield which isn't bad considering I spilled some.
