Welcome to my first-time watching as we react to Deadpool (2016). An incredibly funny movie starring Ryan Reynolds in the role he was most definitely born to play, Wade Wilson/Deadpool. Director Tim Miller did an excellent job handling the fantastic action sequences and the tone swerving from all out fun to dramatic in a blink of an eye. It was such a fun watch to see the Merc with a Mouth's outrageous antics, fourth-wall-breaking humor, and unexpected charm. "Deadpool" introduces us to Wade Wilson, played by Ryan Reynolds, a wisecracking former special forces operative turned antihero with a penchant for breaking rules. There are so many elements that make Deadpool truly standout from other films in the genre. From Ryan Reynolds fantastic comedic timing as well as his fantastic performance to the emotional depth they were able to give a character who is constantly making light of dire circumstances to the pacing of the action this movie does a lot of things very well! We hope that you enjoy our reactions, commentary and discussions as we delve into the film's themes, how it impacted the superhero genre and how allowing this film to be R rated is exactly what we needed.
