In 2017, a 23andMe DNA test revealed that my biological father was actor Hugh O’Brian, who had died just months earlier. But this story really begins when I came out to my mother at 17 — and she responded with a secret of her own that later turned out not to be true. This is a story about secrets, family, identity, and acceptance.
