Revolutionary MS Treatment: CAR-T Cells Target Brain & Spinal Cord (2025 Update)
In this video, I sit down with Dr. Burhan Chaudhry, an MS neurologist and clinical lead at Bristol Myers Squibb, to dive deep into the revolutionary world of CAR-T cell therapy for multiple sclerosis. Dr. Chaudhry not only specializes in MS—he also lives with it himself, offering a uniquely personal perspective on what this new therapy could mean for our community. We explore how CAR-T cell therapy stands apart from current disease-modifying treatments, focusing on how it targets B cells within the central nervous system—something no existing medication truly achieves. If you’re thinking about participating in a clinical trial, you’ll get an insider’s look at eligibility criteria, what the experience is like (including the hospital stay, timeline, and follow-ups), where trials are enrolling both in the U.S. and internationally, and what you might expect in terms of benefits and safety. I also ask Dr. Chaudhry about the early safety data, possible side effects, and how this therapy could impact MS progression and relapse rates. We talk about how to bring up these trial options with your neurologist and how CAR-T research is moving forward. If you're interested in clinical trials or just want to learn more about this exciting development for both relapsing and progressive MS, check the description below for useful links and resources.
