Día Mundial de las Selvas Tropicales

Our country has tropical rainforests, both humid and dry, covering approximately 10% of its territory, primarily in Chiapas, Tabasco, Campeche, Quintana Roo, and Veracruz. To celebrate and raise awareness for World Rainforest Day, biologist and professor Berenice Ramos explains that these ecosystems boast the greatest biodiversity in the world, harboring over 50% of Mexico's plant and animal species, many of which are endemic. Their loss leads to droughts, species extinction, and reduced food security. Conserving them is protecting the country's future.
