ANGUS McSIX’s Seeb: “We Almost Disbanded The Band” | The New Album All-Seeing Astral Eye Interview

ANGUS McSIX are back with another absurdly epic adventure. The power metal supergroup return on March 13, 2026 with their second album Angus McSix and the All-Seeing Astral Eye, continuing the saga of heroic warriors, evil archdemons and the ongoing quest to rescue Angus from his icy prison. Ahead of the release, Jaimunji from Metal On Tap caught up with mastermind Seeb to talk about preparing for tour, writing the new album, introducing Adam McSix, and why one particular song might contain the best chorus he has ever written. Tour Preparations Are Already Underway When we spoke, Seeb was deep in preparations for the band’s upcoming tour. With the first show only days away, the band were still finalising the live set. “We know which songs we are playing,” he laughs. “But we don’t have the order yet.” For Seeb, song order is less about telling a strict chronological story and more about what feels right musically. “It’s more about the songs themselves. Sometimes when you're putting together the playlist for a record, you realise some songs just don’t work next to each other. So you move things around until the flow feels right.” “Dig Down” Might Be The Best Chorus He’s Ever Written When asked about his favourite track on the new album, Seeb didn’t hesitate. “I really think that Dig Down is probably the best chorus of the band and maybe even the best chorus I’ve ever written,” he says. “That includes everything I’ve done with Orden Ogan as well. At the moment it’s definitely my favourite thing.” The track also features the unmistakable vocals of Van Canto, adding yet another layer of fun to the already theatrical project. The Smoothest Singer Transition In Metal? One of the biggest talking points surrounding the new album was the transition from original singer Thomas Winkler to new vocalist Adam McSix. According to Seeb, the band initially considered ending the project entirely. “We actually thought about disbanding the band,” he explains. “But Napalm Records told us the first album did really well and that we had something special going on.” The solution came from leaning deeper into the band’s storytelling concept. Rather than replacing the character of Angus McSix, they introduced a new hero — his brother Adam. “We didn’t want to replace Thomas. You can’t replace a guy like that. So the idea was to introduce another character in the universe.” The result, Seeb believes, may be one of the smoothest singer transitions in metal. “Everybody says they will miss Winkler, but at the same time they say the new guy is fantastic.” Convincing Adam McSix To Join Finding the right voice wasn’t easy. Seeb revealed that Adam McSix — real name Sam Nyman from Manimal — wasn’t initially convinced. “He didn’t want to do it at the beginning,” Seeb laughs. “I had to call him every two days. Eventually he probably saw my number on his phone and thought, ‘Oh no, this guy again.’” But once recording began, Seeb immediately knew they had the right singer. “When we recorded ‘6666’, the handover song, I knew instantly — this is the guy.” Angus McSix Is Pure Creative Freedom While Orden Ogan explores darker themes, Seeb describes writing Angus McSix songs as a completely different experience. “Writing for Angus McSix is like being a three-year-old in a sandbox with all the toys,” he says. “It’s a giant playground where you can try crazy ideas.” That freedom has allowed the band to experiment more on the new album, blending classic power metal with disco elements, theatrical storytelling and over-the-top humour. Escapism Through Heavy Metal For Seeb, the project is also about bringing some fun back into a world that sometimes feels a little too serious. “The world has become a darker place in recent years,” he explains. “And I really think people need something that cheers them up.” That’s exactly what Angus McSix aims to deliver — ridiculous stories, catchy choruses and a healthy dose of metal-powered escapism. “If people are sitting there watching the music videos and laughing like we did while making them, then we’ve done our job.” Could Angus McSix Come To Australia? Before wrapping up, Seeb hinted that an Australian tour could be possible one day. With both Angus McSix and Orden Ogan connected creatively, the idea of bringing both bands down under isn’t off the table. “If the opportunity comes up, we would totally do it,” he says. For Australian power metal fans, that’s a quest worth hoping for. #angusmcsix #powermetal #metalinterview #heavymetal #reactionstomusicthisweek 🍻 JOIN THE BREW-CREW ON DISCORD:   / discord   🍻 Hang out with fellow metalheads, share tunes, talk gigs, beers & all things heavy!
