Then her arm stopped responding. With each passing day, the disease robbed her of speech, movement, and even her smile. For a long time, doctors couldn't figure out what was happening. Tests showed no abnormalities. Meanwhile, Ksyusha was fading before their eyes. Danil himself took her to the emergency room when her condition became critical. Only then was the diagnosis announced: autoimmune encephalitis, a disease in which the immune system attacks its own brain. There was intensive care, a tracheostomy, a feeding tube, and weeks of Danil visiting his girlfriend, not knowing if he would ever see her smile again. But he continued to come every day. He talked to her, held her hand, and waited. They were able to find effective therapy for Ksyusha. The disease receded. Thanks to treatment and three rehabilitation courses funded by the "Good Wizard" project, the girl has already learned to hold her head up, roll over, and sit in a wheelchair.
