DISASTER on Day 1 ! Rough Sailing to the Isles of Scilly

Welcome to East Coast Sailing. In todays episode, its the long awaited kick off series, sailing to the Isles of Scilly. In todays episode, i cover the incredibly rough solo sailing journey from Woolverstone marina, ran by MDL who are my official marina partner to Ramsgate. Ill be sailing out of the river Orwell located near Ipswich, Suffolk and passing the busy port of Felixstowe & Harwich. As i enter the North Sea, ill sail across the busy shipping lanes and through the London Array Wind Farm located 20 miles off shore. After safely making it through the Wind Farm, the conditions whip up. Evania my Beneteau Oceanis 343 smashes through the waves, with green water washing over the deck as wind speeds hit 30 knotts on the nose. The boat really took a pounding with large waves being created due to the strong tidal convergences near the Margate Sands. Luckily the conditions eased up as i sailed closer to the Kentish Coastline nearing Margate & North Foreland. After passing Broadstairs i blasted down the English Channel at full speed towards Ramsgate located on the Kent coastline. Ill also show you some of my windy docking practices if your new to sailing. This journey is about an incredibly average sailing who has a dream of reaching the white sands of the Isles of Scilly under sail power alone.
