CAEM retira 369 toneladas de basura en el Edomex para prevenir inundaciones

369 tons of trash. That's the volume of waste that the State of Mexico government, through the State of Mexico Water Commission (CAEM), has removed from waterways, ravines, and drainage networks as part of its efforts to prevent flooding during the current rainy season. This amount is equivalent to filling 205 dump trucks. Since May 15, CAEM and Grupo Tláloc brigades have been carrying out continuous cleaning and dredging work to keep water flowing freely and reduce the risk of flooding and standing water in various parts of the state. The work also includes dredging 155 kilometers of drainage channels, waterways, and ravines, a distance similar to the route between Toluca and Pachuca. In addition, 53 pumping stations, essential for rainwater pumping, have been dredged, as well as 294 septic tanks, reinforcing the operation of the hydraulic infrastructure. In total, these efforts have been carried out in 52 municipalities in the State of Mexico. And although garbage removal and dredging help reduce the risk of flooding, authorities are urging citizens to keep streets, drains, and canals clean, as avoiding littering also makes a difference in ensuring that water flows freely.
