Monaco Weekly News by NEWS.MC - ep 95
This week, NEWS.MC TV brings you the latest news from Monaco, beginning with a celebration of youth and community spirit. On Wednesday, June 24, the Princess Stéphanie Youth Centre marked its 40th anniversary with a colourful performance at the Théâtre des Variétés. Children and teenagers took audiences on a musical journey through the centre’s history, celebrating four decades of creative, sporting and educational activities for young people in the Principality. Monaco’s Labour Court celebrated a major milestone on Thursday, June 25, commemorating its 80th anniversary in the presence of His Serene Highness Prince Albert II. The ceremony highlighted the institution’s long-standing role in preserving social harmony, with an emphasis on resolving workplace disputes through dialogue and conciliation. Also on Thursday, June 25, legal experts gathered for a symposium examining Monaco’s relationship with the European Court of Human Rights. Organised during the Principality’s presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, discussions focused on the application of European human rights law and the protection of fundamental freedoms. Philosophy also took centre stage as the 10th PhiloMonaco Prize ceremony honoured outstanding works of contemporary thought. Held under the presidency of Charlotte Casiraghi, the event recognised author Estelle Ferrarese with the Best Essay Prize, while two local students received the 2026 High School Students’ Prize. Environmental cooperation was celebrated on Friday, June 26, as His Serene Highness Prince Albert II and Princess Charlène joined French and Italian representatives to mark the 50th anniversary of the RAMOGE Agreement, highlighting five decades of collaboration to protect the Mediterranean Sea. The Sovereign also travelled to Antibes the same day to take part in celebrations marking the 400th anniversary of the French Navy. During the ceremony, Prince Albert II presented military preparation badges to young trainees and recognised outstanding achievements by participants from across the region. Maritime protection remained in focus on Saturday, June 27, when RAMOGE anniversary events continued with live demonstrations of pollution response capabilities. Prince Albert II observed anti-pollution vessels and operational exercises showcasing the close cooperation between Monaco, France and Italy in responding to environmental emergencies. Also on Saturday, June 27, the Club of Foreign Residents of Monaco celebrated its 16th anniversary in the Japanese Garden, welcoming members representing more than 46 nationalities in the presence of the Sovereign. Literature and the arts came together during the second Franco-Monegasque International Literary Festival, where 57 authors and, for the first time, 13 contemporary artists gathered to engage with the public through exhibitions, performances and discussions. Monaco’s emergency services were strengthened on Monday, June 29, as nine newly trained firefighters officially joined the Principality’s Fire Brigade after completing four months of intensive preparation. During a formal ceremony, the recruits received their operational helmets before beginning active service. The Academy of The Sea also launched its 2026 summer session on Monday, June 29, bringing together international specialists to examine issues including ocean governance, maritime security, biodiversity and environmental protection. The week concluded with Monaco responding to a major criminal investigation after a suspected parcel bomb exploded near Place des Moulins on the evening of Monday, June 29, injuring five people. Authorities believe the blast was a targeted attempted assassination rather than an act of terrorism. Investigators continue to work closely with their French counterparts as the search for the suspect remains ongoing. This week, NEWS.MC TV is joined by Martika, the Monaco-based influencer whose growing online presence has made her one of the Principality’s most recognisable digital personalities. In an exclusive interview, she discusses life in Monaco, building a successful social media career, and the opportunities and challenges of creating content in the digital age.
