A FSSPX e o problema da obediência

Could (or should) the SSPX consecrate bishops without papal mandate on July 1st? In this video, Professor Henrique Sebastião calmly and rationally analyzes one of the most controversial topics in current traditionalist Catholicism: the question of obedience to the Pope and the hierarchy in the face of the new episcopal consecrations of the Society of Saint Pius X (SSPX). Many accuse the Society of pure and simple disobedience. But is Catholic obedience blind legalism, or is it subordinated to fidelity to the Gospel and the mandate of Our Lord Jesus Christ? This conference addresses and seeks to clarify the main arguments: 1️⃣ The power of the Pope and the obedience due are intrinsically linked to fidelity to revealed doctrine. Saint Peter was called "blessed" when he confessed Christ, but "Satan" when he tried to prevent the Cross (Mt 16). The First Vatican Council makes it clear that papal authority is neither absolute nor detached from the faith of the Church. 2️⃣ Blind obedience is not a Catholic virtue. When the popes of the Second Vatican Council seem to teach the opposite of Christ's missionary mandate — “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15) and “whoever does not believe will be condemned” — to whom do we owe priority obedience? 3️⃣ Saints like Saint Athanasius and Saint Joan of Arc were condemned and accused of disobedience by the hierarchy of their time. Today they are glorified. Church history shows that “obeying authority” is not always synonymous with fidelity to Christ. 4️⃣ Ecclesiastical jurisprudence cannot be above obedience to God.
