The Yosemite Shot I Didn’t Get

I went to Yosemite hoping to photograph Firefall, one of those rare shots where everything has to line up perfectly. The light, the clouds, the snow, the water, the timing. We got close, but the shot never really happened. This vlog follows the whole trip: packing gear, testing the Canon R1 in low light, bringing the DJI 4D, road tripping in the Rivian, chasing Yosemite Firefall, and trying to balance making content with actually being present on a Valentine’s Day trip. The bigger lesson came after missing the photo. As photographers and creators, it’s easy to live through the viewfinder and turn every trip into another thing to capture. This one reminded me that the memory matters more than the image.
