The Cost of Being a Teacher in SoCal | Teacher Collaboration Ever wondered what it is like financially to be a teacher? Are you a single or double income household? 4. Do you own or rent? 5. What is your highest level of education? Does your education level effect your pay in your district? 6. How much did it cost for you to attain your degrees? Are you still paying for your education? (student loans?) 7. How is your salary schedule structured; starting point, max out salary, annual incremental increases 8. Where are you on your district's salary schedule? 9. Do you supplement your income in any way? 10. How much money does your district give you for supplies at the beginning of the year. Do they provide basic supplies throughout the school year? 11. Do you have additional deductions taken from your paycheck (retirement, union dues, etc,) 12. Do you feel your current salary is enough for you to make ends meet and live comfortably? 13.
