Mariachi Harp Tutorial Part 1 - El Cascabel & Getting to Know the Mariachi Harp – Victor Alvarez

In part one of the Victor Alvarez harp tutorial series, Victor gives a demonstration of "El Cascabel", discusses the different parts of the "arpa jarocha" and shows viewers the basic positioning of the hands along the strings of the harp. In this harp series, Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán's harpist Victor Alvarez introduces students to the fundamentals of harp technique, explaining and demonstrating hand positions, fingerings, intervals, arpeggios and bass lines. He teaches basic exercises, in ascending and descending form, to be practiced up and down the three registers of the instrument.
