This flooded the lower reaches of Jhenaigati upazila. If the rain and flood waters continue, the water level of all the rivers will increase further by Friday morning, causing a risk of flood, according to the Water Development Board. Although the water level at Nakugaon and Nalitabari points is still below the danger level, it is gradually increasing. In addition, the water level of the Maharashi and Someshwari rivers is also close to the danger level. However, the water level of the old Brahmaputra River has remained normal so far. Due to continuous rains and the hilly terrain coming down from India, the water level of the Maharashi, Bhogai and Chellakhali rivers in Sherpur has increased, but the water level of the Someshwari River has increased more, causing erosion in various places and overflowing the banks, flooding hundreds of hectares of paddy fields. However, the water level has started to recede since noon.
