Pickled Serrano Peppers/ Dehydrated Serrano Peppers/ Preserving my Harvest

You can Refrigerate picked peppers for up to a year but they won't last that long here in my house. Dehydrating and pickling peppers is an easy way to preserve your pepper Harvest. When dehydrating your peppers and storing them in an airtight glass jar, you can rehydrate them in hot water later to make sauces and stews or just add them directly to your sauces & stews. You can also crush the brittle peppers in a food processor or a coffee/spice grinder. if grinding into a powder, be sure to wear a mask and eye protection as the airborne dust can be highly irritating. Pickling peppers are always my favorite. you can add them to nachos eggs.. any meal you enjoy pickled peppers with. When pickling and making the brine, the sugar is added primarily to balance the sharp bite of the vinegar and enhance the natural heat of the peppers. Your peppers will not be sweet with the small amount we added. The reason I didn't water bath Can my peppers today is because I have enough peppers on my pantry shelf and when canning my peppers it cooks the peppers and they tend to get soggy over time and refrigerated pickled peppers tend to stay crunchy the way I like them and when I'm canning my peppers they lose there vibrant color. #peppers #gardening #harvest #homegrown #garden #texas #homestead #food #snacks #perserving
