Visit to Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan

If you are planning to study in China, visit Huazhong University of Science and Technology. There are A LOT of things you need to know before you go! Also, if you are curious about conducting research in China or collaborating with Chinese researchers, you need to understand the Chinese mindset. So, to help you learn from my experience, I documented my visit to Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan and my research and teaching activities in the School of Architecture and Urban Planning! If you have any other plans to study or work in academia in China, please put them in the comments down below! China is no longer a “future player” in engineering and architecture. It is already a global center of education, infrastructure, and applied research. But meaningful engagement requires more than rankings or headlines. It requires being on the ground. During my academic visit to Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) in Wuhan, I worked closely with colleagues from the School of Architecture and Urban Planning and the Civil Engineering ecosystem, one of the most technically rigorous and practice-oriented environments I have experienced in China. 📍 Why HUST stands out HUST combines: • Strong fundamentals in civil and structural engineering • Advanced urban systems, building physics, and energy research • Close integration between design, simulation, and real construction practice • A culture where engineering decisions are expected to scale, fast The architecture and urban planning programs are deeply connected to climate, density, infrastructure, and performance targets, not aesthetics alone. This is where future megacities are actually tested. 👤 Scientific leadership matters Special thanks to Prof. Dr. Shen Xu for the openness, clarity, and depth of scientific exchange. These discussions were precise, technical, and forward-looking, exactly what international collaboration should look like. 🙏 Hospitality and academic generosity I am also grateful to Gaomei Li for hosting me with exceptional generosity and care. Academic exchange is built on trust, time, and human connection, not just projects. 🔬 Research context This visit is part of an ongoing collaboration on: Multi-objective fast optimization for improving building energy efficiency and renewable energy systems integration in urban blocks ************************************************************** My collaboration with Huazhong University of Science and Technology in China: Multi-Objective Fast Optimization for Improving Building Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Systems Integration in Urban Blocks. ************************************************************** Equipment I Use To Film Videos - Main Video Camera: DJI Osmo Pocket 3 Drone: DJI Mini 2 - https://click.dji.com/AELErSRJdd777h9...
