Amtrak's Floridian - Chicago to Pittsburgh in Coach

My Summer trip out to the east coast is full of delays, tight connections & great sights from train windows! This trip should've started in Tomah, Wisconsin, but Amtrak's Empire Builder couldn't keep time well enough out west! So, to catch the Floridian from Chicago to Pittsburgh I had to drive to the Metra station at Harvard, IL in order to keep my word to my teenage kid to be able to swim in the ocean at Atlantic City, NJ! The Floridian is a stopgap solution for Amtrak, replacing the Capitol Limited & Silver Star. But a longer route to Miami opens that train up to plenty of delays as well. Plus, this summer is extra busy with folks moving about the country for all sorts of reasons! Will we make our connections with this awkward red duffel bag full of pillows, beach towels & snacks? Let's take a ride & see! Featured music under free license via YouTube Creator Studio. Images via Google Maps & Wikipedia. Made without AI. Produced by Megandsteve Travel, 2026. Recorded June, 2026.
