Ashbury Heights: The Skeleton Tree - Track 02: A Hard Week

Our second experiment takes the form of a duet in the vein of old 70's and 80's ballads featuring male and female vocals. We listened to a lot of really saccharine stuff while making this track including some Kenny Rogers *shivers*. Listening through the most successful duets of all time we realized we didn't like most of them. Trying to work with concepts that didn't really appeal to us and make that into something we found attractive was an interesting challenge. This track took a long time to get out, mostly due to some other stuff getting in the way. We're on track for our next experiment however. To get a warm 70s, early 80s vibe we used some real instruments this time around. The mixing was done almost entirely using Waves Abbey Road plugins which emulate the analogue sound quite well.
