Hiking to The Wave (and more!) in Coyote Buttes North
I took a break from my long-distance hikes this past spring for a special dayhike to The Wave in Coyote Buttes North. I joined a friend and her family after they were lucky enough to win a permit and had an extra spot. We also visited many of the cool spots near The Wave such as: Hamburger Rock, Second Wave, Top Rock Arch, The Alcove, Melody Arch, Big Mac, Sand Cove, and The Boneyard. Fun day! Daily permits to Coyotes Buttes North are limited and only available via seasonal lottery or a geo-fenced "next day" lottery. Though this makes it extremely hard to get a permit, it does help preserve the fragile landscape and maintain a less-crowded experience for those who visit. The area is frequently patrolled by rangers so please do not go without a permit. See the BLM website for the latest info. More info available on my website: www.AcrossUtah.com
