INSTALLING LARGE TILES ON SHOWER FLOOR (TUTORIAL)

Most shower floors are tiled using a mosaic or tile 2x2 or smaller. Pebbles, glass mosaics, and hexagons are also popular choices. Sometimes its nice to use a large tiles on the shower floor when installing and make what we call an "envelope" cut, which makes relief lines in the tile in order to achieve proper slope. Proper slope on a shower pan is 1/4" to 1/2" per foot of fall to the drain. It is also important to achieve full thinset coverage, or 95% per TCNA recommendations. I show everything from how to lay out the shower floor tiles, to how they are installed. In this video I used a Schluter Kerdi shower kit, complete with decorative drain. Schluter all-set was used to install both the schluter kerdi shower kit and the porcelain tile we used on the shower floor.
