Curtain Call with David Spatz - Guest: Don Ho
Here is a "lost show" from our archives. So lost, it never ever aired. This 1995 interview with Hawaiian icon Don Ho was done right before a special "players" show at the Trump Taj Mahal, his first performance on the East coast since the 70s. It's kind of a mystery on why this show sat on the shelf for 35 years but we do remember it being a weird interview and the vibe backstage was really odd. It took forever to get Don Ho to the dressing room for the shoot and when he did get there, we only had about 20 minutes before showtime. Don was a really nice guy but was a little off, sluggish, and had a tough time warming up to the conversation. Later that year, Don Ho had a stroke that compromised his health for the rest of his life. We might have been seeing some of the warning signs of his health problems in this interview. We decided to post this because there are so few Don Ho interviews out there and it was a lost moment of Atlantic City entertainment history. Another odd note: somehow while on the shelf, this tape developed an audio problem. Every now and then, there is a frequency surge that wasn't there during the recording.
