Batogah Pass: The Hidden Father of Babusar! Chilas to Gittidas Adventure — EP:59

After returning from Chapursun Valley, we stayed once again at the same hotel in Sost where we had spent the last two nights. Early in the morning, I went to meet Rehmat Bhai at his house behind the hotel to pay for our 3-night stay. In return, he generously filled a shopper with delicious apples for our journey and we chatted for a while before saying goodbye. From Sost Bazaar, after having our meal, our return journey officially began. At Passu Cones, we stopped to enjoy hot samosas made by a lady named Gul Batur and gathered some local information before moving ahead. As soon as we reached Attabad, a powerful and stormy rain welcomed us, making it extremely difficult to ride until Aliabad. Exhausted and cold, we decided to stay the night in Aliabad for 1500 PKR. The next morning, without breakfast, we rode straight toward Rakaposhi View Point where the famous chapshoro makers sit. We ordered three chapshoro, had tea, and continued our long journey. By evening, we reached Chilas Zero Point. We learned that Babusar Pass was closed due to a protest and recent snowfall, so we decided to try a different route this time — the mighty Batogah Pass. After renting a room for the night, we set off early the next morning. We first visited Chilas Mandi where we bought top-quality chilgoza for 3300 PKR per kg, refilled the bike, and officially began the Batogah adventure from its junction. Locals along the route kept warning us about the tough road, yet insisted we stop for tea and food. When we reached Batogah village, Imtiaz Bhai hosted us with fresh kahroot and tea. There, we learned the real story behind the name “Batogah” — a valley named after the Batokhel tribe and the flowing water channels running alongside the mountains. Surrounded by thick forests of chilgoza, the local children gifted us fresh cones as a token of hospitality. After taking permission, we continued riding and reached the top after three exhausting hours, where fresh snowfall welcomed us at 14,100 ft. Nearby stood Batogah Sar Peak, almost 15,300 ft tall — truly majestic. Compared to Babusar, which stands at 13,700 ft, the Batogah top is 56 km from KKH, earning it the title I gave it today: “The Father of Babusar.” After staying for an hour at the top, we descended toward the empty and snow-covered plains of Gittidas. Most of the locals had already left their homes due to the harsh weather. Somehow, struggling through heavy snowfall and a memory-full camera, we managed to reach Burwai around 8 PM. Completely exhausted, we rented a room for 1500 PKR, had dinner, and rested. From KKH to Babusar Road is Almost 68km Tough off road section, this track should be do if you are professional bikers otherwise i whould not reccomend you to do this track. Today’s journey was one of the most beautiful yet one of the toughest of my life. Witnessing snowfall live was magical, but surviving it was a true reminder of nature’s power.
