A mountain of fried yakisoba, Mirko's foam, the perfect edamame, the proprietress's efficient movements, and the follow-up attack of red onion, seaweed, and dried tangerine peel—before I knew it, it had become a 14-minute story. The aroma wafted through the air, and it was a victory in itself. After taking a sip of my wife's soup, I thought I could drink this soup forever, and at that moment, the end of the lunchtime feast was approaching. Despite all that eating and drinking, the bill was a surprising "2,950 yen." So... was the alcohol only 500 yen? And the final blow.
