beware, O servant of Allah!!!Time has come full circle as it was on the day Allah created the heavens and the earth. The year consists of twelve months, four of which are sacred: three consecutive months—Dhu al-Qa‘dah, Dhu al-Hijjah, and al-Muharram—and Rajab of Muḍar, which lies between Jumada and Sha‘ban.The Prophet ﷺ asked: “What month is this?” We replied: “Allah and His Messenger know best.” He remained silent until we thought he might give it a different name. He said: “Is it not Dhu al-Hijjah?” We said: “Yes.” He asked: “What land is this?” We replied: “Allah and His Messenger know best.” He remained silent until we thought he might rename it. He said: “Is it not the sacred land (Makkah)?” We said: “Yes.” He asked: “What day is this?” We replied: “Allah and His Messenger know best.” He remained silent until we thought he might rename it. He said: “Is it not the Day of Sacrifice?” We said: “Yes.”He then said: “Indeed, your blood, your wealth—and (Muhammad ibn Sirin said: I think he also said) your honor—are sacred to you like the sanctity of this day of yours, in this land of yours, in this month of yours. You will meet your Lord, and He will ask you about your deeds. Do not return after me as disbelievers striking the necks of one another. Let those who are present convey this to those who are absent; perhaps the one who receives it will understand it better than some who heard it.” Then he said: “Have I conveyed it?” (twice).— Reported by Abu Bakrah; authenticated in Sahih al-Bukhari (4406)The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ascended the pulpit and called out in a loud voice:“O people who believe with their tongues but faith has not yet entered their hearts! Do not harm Muslims, do not insult them, and do not seek out their faults.
