Solo overnight trip - Burke Mountain, BC - June 20 2026
I'm running it back! This was the hike I bailed out on back on May 2nd due to unstable snow conditions and it was a much better trip this time around. Starting at the Munro Lake Trailhead in Coquitlam BC, this hike takes you up past Munro Lake, past Dennett Lake, and up into the upper treeline to Burke south summit (homemade signs for Dennett Peak), Pika Peak, and Burke north summit. 20km round trip, 1600m of elevation change each direction. A water filter system is needed for this route. I went in with 4 liters from the start of the trail and refilled my bottles at three separate points. A GPS is also required since you won't have cellular service until you get to the summit. Recorded on GoPro Hero 10 Black on 1080p60fps widescreen mode. Gear List: Trekking Poles: Camp Backcountry 3.0 Backpack: Osprey Exos 48 (large, 50L actual capacity) GPS: Garmin InReach Mini 2 + Garmin GPSMap 65s Water Filter: Katadyn BeFree 1L soft flask + aquatabs Tent: MSR Elixir 1 man Sleeping Pad: MEC VectAir Ultralight 4 Sleeping Bag: MEC Centaurus 0C Pillow: SeaToSummit Aeros inflatable
