Hey friends, this time Jovi takes you to the Jieweijing morning market in Huidong County, Huizhou, Guangdong. Right next to the market is a Ming Dynasty “Mandarin Duck Well” — two wells side by side, one fresh water, one salty. Pretty amazing, right? We took on the 100‑yuan challenge to see how much local food we could get. Highlights include: a bowl of rice noodles with BBQ pork and handmade meatballs — the broth is simmered with pork bones and fresh shrimp; Bowl Wing (imitation shark fin soup) for just 6 yuan; fresh seafood straight off the boat — live shrimp, crabs, oysters — pick your own and have it cooked on the spot; and a lady who has been making zongzi (sticky rice dumplings) for over 30 years, with incredible speed and skill.
