Series & Meaning of Rituals 1. Wula Nyale: A series of traditional rituals that begin in early February, including feeding ancestors and searching for sea worms (nyale) on the beach. The appearance of plump, colorful nyale is considered a sign of a bountiful harvest. 2. Pasola Attraction: Hundreds of horse-mounted knights throw blunt-tipped wooden javelins (sola) at each other at high speed. 3. Blood Philosophy: Local people believe that blood spilled on the field during Pasola will fertilize the soil and ensure a successful harvest.
