A Cup in His Hand (Roland Moses)
“A Cup in His Hand” is a reworked quartet version of one of my favorite compositions, featuring tenor saxophone and dialogic improvisation. Inspired by Psalm 75:8, the piece draws on the haunting depth of the South Indian Kirwani raga to express themes of divine judgment, combining somber melodies, dissonant harmonies, and shifting rhythms with a sense of reverence and intensity.
