A: Yes. You must have a premium subscription to track shots with Shot Pattern. Each new registration comes with a 7-day Free Trial to make sure Shot Pattern is right for you. Q: How do I turn on Auto Swing Detection? A: Auto swing detection is automatically on by default on Apple Watch. You can turn it off at any time by tapping on Settings - Watch Preferences Q: What do I do if I accidentally add a shot on Watch? A: Tap the club icon on your tracking indicator, and then tap the trash button. This will remove your last tracked shot. Q: How does the app know the difference between a practice swing and a regular swing? A: The app is designed to count only one swing per location. It may detect a practice swing. If it does, you're okay. The app will not add a second shot when you actually hit the ball. Swings that are closer than 45 seconds apart or ~10 yards from each other will not be recorded back to back. Q: Does the Watch App Auto-Detect Putts? A: No. The Watch app will not auto-detect putts. If you want to manually record putts with your watch, tap the "Add Shot" button while on the green to mark your putt location. Q: How do I mark the ball in the hole on my Apple Watch? A: Please open your iPhone and open up the Shot History List. You'll have the option to "Hole Shot" for the last shot in the list. This action cannot be done from Watch. Q: My shots ended up on the wrong hole. What do I do? A: You'll have to delete them off the wrong hole and re-add them on the correct hole using our Map-Based Entry. Please toggle to the correct hole prior to tracking shots with your Watch. Q: Does the Watch App use the Watch or iPhone Location for recording shots? A: The Watch app uses its own GPS coordinates to record shot and pin locations. For this reason, it may differ slightly from the distances on your iPhone. Q: How do I add penalty shots? A: Please use your iPhone to add a penalty shot. See 8:40 mark of the video. Q: Shots from my Watch are not showing up on iPhone after the round. What do I do? A: Please make sure your iPhone has the Shot Pattern app running during the round so that shots can successfully sync between iPhone and Watch. If you quit out of the iPhone app, you'll have to re-add shots using our map-based entry system. Q: How do I pick targets on my Apple Watch: A: If using both phone and Watch, the Watch will use your last target location from the iPhone if you interacted with the phone just before your swing. If you haven't recently touched your phone, the Watch will assume you aimed down the middle of the fairway on tee shots on Par 4's and 5's, and at the pin for all other shots. You cannot select a target on watch at this time. Q: Why does the Apple Watch request Workout, Motion Sensor, and Location Permissions? A: Shot Pattern uses Apple's workout functionality to keep the watch app alive and in the foreground for long periods of time. Auto swing detection is accomplished using Apple's motion detection capabilities in the accelerometer. Shot Pattern uses your GPS location to provide accurate distances throughout your round. Shot Pattern asks to use your location in the background to ensure fast refresh times when you re-open the app after locking your screen. We do not use your location for anything other than providing distances during a round of golf. Q: I used to use the "Simple" shot tracking in Shot Pattern. Where is that? A: We have removed simple shot tracking in favor of this new system. We think you'll find it just as easy as the simple mode we used to have, but captures far more data in the moment.
