Blackmagic Cintel Unboxing & Initial Setup (35mm Test Scan) | AV Transfers UK @avtransfersUK

Welcome to AV Transfers UK — I’m Howard (AVTransfers.co.uk). Very exciting day in the studio: our Blackmagic Cintel G3 has arrived! In this video I show the delivery / arrival, the initial setup, and a first 35mm test scan as we get the scanner installed and running for the first time. We’ve been scanning cine film for a long time, but we wanted to step up our 35mm results — and this is the upgrade. The Cintel G3 is a serious bit of kit, and once it’s rolling it’s genuinely next level. In this video: The Cintel arriving and getting positioned in the studio Initial setup + first minutes of testing A quick look at the film path: gentle roller transport, lint/sticky cleaning roller, and the sound head How it scans in real time and can capture HDR where needed Built-in features like image stabilisation for jitter/jump reduction First impressions of how quiet and smooth the machine is (seriously… those doors!) Today’s demo is 35mm, but this Cintel setup can also handle other gauges too (depending on film type and condition), including: 16mm Standard 8 / Regular 8 Super 8 Capture detail mentioned in the video: We’re capturing in 4K (4096 × 3072) with overcan for safe framing. Big thanks to Adam at Big Picture Media (UK) for helping me source the scanner. If you’re not sure what format you’ve got, or how much film you have, send us a quick photo and we’ll advise you on the best route.
