AICC Revamps Goa Congress; Girish Chodankar Replaces Amit Patkar as GPCC Chief

The All India Congress Committee (AICC) has announced a significant organisational reshuffle in the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC), appointing Girish Chodankar as the new President, replacing Amit Patkar. As part of the restructuring, M.K. Shaikh, Altone D’Costa, and Adv. Carlos Alvares Ferreira have been named Working Presidents. Datta D. Naik has been appointed as the Treasurer of the party unit. Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao will head the Campaign Committee, while Member of Parliament Captain Viriato Fernandes has been assigned the responsibility of chairing the Manifesto Committee. Speaking on the leadership change, Girish Chodankar said that there were discussions and meetings over the past 15 days regarding the organisational changes. He added that the decision to change the GPCC president was taken by the party leadership and that he had no clarity on the internal reasons behind the move. Meanwhile, outgoing GPCC President Amit Patkar said that true strength lies not in titles or positions but in the unwavering spirit of those committed to Goa and its people. He stated that over the past four years, party workers and supporters have collectively worked across the state to protect Goa’s identity, culture, and the rights of its people. Patkar further said that every campaign, village outreach, and movement undertaken by the party was driven by the goal of securing a better future for Goa. He reaffirmed his commitment to public service, stating that his dedication to Goa remains unchanged. “The journey continues. The mission continues.
