We have been planning to do this story over a year.. Nice to finally check it off as complete! It took 2 tries though! The old Hungarian Cemetery in Beauty Kentucky sits on a hillside far above what was once the town of Himlerville, a unique coal town founded in the early 1920s by Hungarian immigrant Martin Himler. The cemetery mainly holds Hungarian coal miners and their families who came to eastern Kentucky, Many of the graves are old, weathered, and difficult to read now, but the cemetery remains one of the last visible reminders of the once-thriving immigrant community now lost to time.
