Mach Loop Rally Race - (old) World Record (Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024)

My recent world record breaking run for the Mach Loop rally race course in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. This was a bit of a mixed run - I had an unusually strong start, and was quite lucky to fly perilously close to several of the gates without crashing, but unfortunately I seem to have had some lag right as I cross the finish line. You can see that the timer shows about 2.25.15 as I cross the line, but presumably due to lag the recorded time is actually shown as 2.25.21. Tips and tricks: This is a relatively undemanding course, but it is still quite difficult to execute optimally. The most critical thing necessary for recording a fast time is to gain speed as you begin to turn out of gate 3. If you pull too hard on the stick, you will lose speed, and it's virtually impossible to recover even with excellent flying subsequently. Conversely, if you take the turn too gently, you'll gain speed, but your much wider line will also result in about half a second of lost time, so it's a delicate balance. The other very important turn is between gates 19 and 20 - here you will want to hug the posts while remaining fairly flat, as losing and then gaining altitude unnecessarily here will burn quite a bit of speed.
