Au Revoir Now Darlint: The Letters of Edith Thompson, read by Genevieve Gaunt
100 years ago, on 9th January 1923, Edith Thompson - aged 29 - was hanged for the murder of her husband Percy. So too was her 20 year old lover, Freddy Bywaters, who had stabbed Percy to death in October 1922. There was no evidence against Edith except the letters that she had written to Freddy, which were used at her trial as ‘proof’ that she had incited and conspired in the crime. Here are some extracts from those letters, which are published by Unbound. Read by the award-winning actor Genevieve Gaunt, filmed by Samuel Dye of Beastly Studios. #ediththompson #thompsonbywaters #classicmurders #oldbailey #unboundbooks Au Revoir Now Darlint: The Letters of Edith Thompson by Laura Thompson: Unbound
