Tapak 4 is inspired by the movement vocabulary of ‘Silat’, a Malay martial art form practiced widely in Malaysia and Southeast Asia, drawing from Silat’s philosophy of ‘surprise’ or ‘attack and defend.’ ASK Dance Company (ADC)is a professional dance collective, specialising in providing training, workshops, master classes, performances, choreography courses as well as undertaking collaborative projects in traditional and contemporary dance genres.  The company's philosophy expounds that to live life to the fullest, one must continuously learn, and be unafraid to ‘ask’ pertinent questions. ASK’s dance productions serve as a platform for this pertinent dialogue and questing - from issues about disenfranchisement to celebrations of life. ASK Dance Company has become a shining example of Malaysia’s plurality,which is danced through its repertoire and represented by the ethnicity of its company members. The company aspires to become a unique force with a distinct Malaysian identity providing employment, experience and a career pathway for outstanding dancers and choreographers.
